Design
Here is a project Phyllis created for her studio class at the New York School of Interior Design. The goal was to create an urban bus stop for passengers traveling to museums in New York City.
Bus Shelter Design
This project involved designing a bus shelter in New York for a newly launched shuttle service that takes passengers to all the major art museums in the city. This stop will be located on one of the main paths in Madison Square Park, near the corner of 23rd Street and Madison Avenue.
Design Concept
All creativity is somehow affected by what has come before. This bus shelter was inspired by the Loggia dei Lanzi, in Florence, Italy. Although it is a contemporary structure, Phyllis wanted to incorporate elements such as arches and rib vaults. Instead of classical statuary, this bus stop will shelter museum patrons.
